2027 Porsche 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche: A Collector’s Tribute to Functional Design

Porsche has never been shy about celebrating its heroes, but few figures loom as large over the brand’s identity as Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. To mark what would have been F. A. Porsche’s 90th birthday, the company has created one of its most thoughtful Sonderwunsch projects to date: the 2027 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, a collector-focused model that blends motorsport credibility with deeply personal design references.

Limited to just 90 examples worldwide and built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the car takes inspiration from a G-body 911 driven by F. A. Porsche himself in the 1980s. One of those 90 cars will remain in the family, delivered to his youngest son, Mark Porsche. Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2026, following an extensive one-on-one consultation process that allows each buyer to further personalize their car beyond the already bespoke specification.

At its core, the special edition is based on the current 911 GT3 with Touring Package, the more restrained interpretation of Porsche’s naturally aspirated track weapon. Power comes from the familiar 4.0-liter flat-six, producing 502 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, paired with the Touring model’s adaptive rear spoiler rather than a fixed wing. The result is a car that prioritizes purity and intent over visual aggression—very much in keeping with F. A. Porsche’s design philosophy.

That philosophy is most clearly expressed in the details. The exterior is finished in F. A. Green metallic, a bespoke Paint to Sample Plus color developed with input from the Porsche family and inspired by the Oak Green metallic 911 owned by F. A. Porsche. Satin Black Sport Classic wheels—unavailable on a standard GT3 Touring—sit over center-lock hubs adorned with a 1963-era Porsche crest. Subtle gold accents appear throughout, including a plaque on the rear decklid grille bearing the “90 F. A. Porsche” designation.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Truffle Brown Club Leather, contrasted by Limestone stitching and seat centers upholstered in a unique F. A. grid-weave fabric. The pattern, woven from black, green, truffle brown, cream, and Bordeaux red threads, is a direct reference to one of F. A. Porsche’s favorite sport coats. The fabric also appears in the glove compartment and as a mat in the front trunk, reinforcing the sense that this is a holistic design exercise rather than a superficial trim package.

Other interior details underline the connection to Porsche Design. The Sport Chrono clock atop the dashboard is styled after the original Chronograph 1 created for F. A. Porsche in the early 1970s. A shift lever with an open-pore walnut handle adds a tactile, almost architectural counterpoint to the GT3’s otherwise purposeful interior. Multiple plaques throughout the cabin feature F. A. Porsche’s signature, the silhouette of the original 911, and a clear “one of 90” designation.

Each car is delivered with more than just keys. Buyers also receive an exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1, created specifically for this model. The COSC-certified watch is hand-built in Porsche’s Swiss manufactory and features a black titanium case, a nod to the groundbreaking all-black Chronograph I of 1972. Special Super-LumiNova treatment gives the hands and indices a subtle patina effect, while F. A. Porsche’s initials replace the usual Porsche Design logo at the three-o’clock position—mirroring the personal watch he commissioned for himself decades ago. The rotor echoes the design and color of the car’s wheels, and the limitation number is engraved into the caseback. A leather strap matching the car’s interior is included alongside the titanium bracelet, both featuring a tool-free quick-change system.

A bespoke Porsche Design weekender bag completes the package, reinforcing the idea that this GT3 is intended not just as a static collectible, but as an object to be lived with.

Pricing for the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche is set at $387,000 before taxes, fees, and optional equipment. While exclusivity is guaranteed by the 90-car production run, the deeper appeal lies in the car’s intent. This is not simply another limited edition built around performance statistics or visual drama. Instead, it is a quiet, carefully considered tribute to the man whose belief that “form follows function” shaped not only the 911, but decades of Porsche design across cars, watches, and industrial objects.

For collectors who value narrative and authenticity as much as horsepower, this may be one of the most meaningful modern 911s Porsche has ever produced.
