Though it was never sold in the USA, the earliest Lotus Elise S1 is now available for import, as are special editions like this Heritage (a.k.a. 79 edition) that plays heavily on the black and gold of the John Player Special livery worn by Lotus F1 in 1978 when they won the driver and constructors championships.

150 examples were built. On the outside, the car received black paint, gold wheels, gold grilles and a black and gold nose badge. Inside, the Heritage got black leather with gold alcantara seat centers, a black and gold alcantara steering wheel, gold dash fascia and some custom decals.
