We hate it when we can’t identify a color, but that’s where we are on this C5-generation Audi S6 Avant. The color is a green metallic that doesn’t appear to match anything we’re familiar with in the Audi lineup. Similarly, checking the German market MY2000 product catalogue for the car also reveals nothing remotely close to the green hue you see here.

The mystery deepens when you consider the location. This car is at a used dealer in Ingolstadt, Germany. That’s the headquarter town of Audi AG. If you’re going to find a special build Audi randomly in the local population, this is the town where you’d find it. Whether it was an Audi exclusive order, an oddball spray out of a color they didn’t end up producing in series, or perhaps an auto show or fleet car… we just don’t know. We also don’t know the VIN on this car so can’t run it through our usual searches.
For enthusiasts keeping track, Audi of America did sell the S6 Avant in the USA during the C5 era. So, importing this car might be of limited value given you can also probably find one Stateside. Then again, this one appears unmodified and well kept. Now, throw in a very unique interior color and it might be worth the added complexity of acquiring it in Europe then importing it into North America. It’s older than 25 years, meaning importation should be relatively easy.
