Ferrari SC40: A One-Off Masterpiece Inspired by the F40
Maranello, October 17, 2025 ā Ferrari has unveiled its latest one-off creation from the marqueās renowned Special Projects program: the Ferrari SC40. Commissioned by a single client and designed under the direction of Flavio Manzoni at Ferrariās Styling Centre, the SC40 represents the ultimate expression of Ferrariās personalization philosophy ā a bespoke, mid-rear-engined berlinetta inspired by the legendary F40 yet reimagined for a new era.

A Modern Tribute to a Legend
Drawing on the legacy of the F40, the SC40 fuses sharp geometry with soft, modern transitions to create a shape both familiar and forward-looking. While the F40 serves as inspiration, the SC40ās designers sought not to replicate but to reinterpret, crafting a completely new form defined by muscular volumes, crisp lines, and precise symmetry.
The proportions are unmistakably purposeful: a long, low nose and short rear overhang create balance and tension, while a fixed rear wing ā painted in bespoke SC40 White ā extends from the flanks into the engine cover. A black separation line defines the rear fascia, where open mesh reveals glimpses of the carās mechanical core. Smoked LexanĀ® louvres expose the twin-turbo V6 engine, connecting visually to sculpted intakes and smaller vents integrated near the rear wheelarches. The center-exit exhaust, built using additive manufacturing and finished in titanium and carbon fiber, anchors the rear design alongside taillights reminiscent of the 296 GTB on which the SC40 is based.

Industrial Design Meets Emotional Form
The side profile features reinterpreted NACA-style intakes accentuated by carbon-fiber detailing, with vertical lines framing the carās visual rhythm ā a structured interplay of proportion and surface that Ferrari likens to a musical composition. At the front, slim headlights sit within black housings that flow into a full-width air intake, framed by rectangular brake ducts and LED daytime running lights.
Inside, the SC40 revives the spirit of the F40 through material innovation. Kevlar ā once a hallmark of Ferrariās late-1980s supercar ā returns here as carbon-Kevlar, integrated throughout the cockpit, including the footwells, floor, steering wheel, and engine bay. The cabin is upholstered in Charcoal AlcantaraĀ® and red Jacquard technical fabric, while embroidered Prancing Horses and woven SC40 logos add contemporary flair.

An Exclusive Expression of Craftsmanship
The SC40ās bespoke White exterior, developed exclusively for this commission, highlights the carās sculptural surfaces under sunlight and subtly echoes the interior Kevlar tone. The asymmetrical placement of the SC40 logo, brushed aluminum fuel and charging caps, and negative āFerrariā lettering on the engine cover all speak to the modelās obsessive attention to detail. Exclusive wheels combine diamond-cut metal with black spokes, underlining the carās geometric aesthetic.
A full-scale styling buck of the SC40 will go on display at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello beginning October 18, offering visitors a rare glimpse at the creative process behind Ferrariās most exclusive models.

Ferrari Special Projects: Personalization at the Pinnacle
The SC40 continues Ferrariās tradition of bespoke one-off commissions, created for collectors seeking individuality at the highest level of performance and design. Each project begins with a client concept and evolves through close collaboration with Ferrariās design and engineering teams over a two-year development process. The result: a unique Ferrari built to the same uncompromising standards as any production model from Maranello, but defined entirely by the vision of one client.
With the SC40, Ferrari once again proves that true artistry lies in evolution ā not imitation ā carrying the spirit of the F40 into the modern age with precision, passion, and unmistakable purpose.
