Mercedes-Benz is giving its most discerning American clients something dealerships have rarely been able to offer: a dedicated destination focused less on buying a car and more on creating one. With the opening of Mercedes-Benz Studio Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, the German luxury brand has introduced its global Studio concept to the United States while simultaneously launching the country’s first MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure Hub, signaling just how important bespoke craftsmanship has become to the luxury automotive business.
Rather than functioning as another retail showroom, the Studio is designed as an immersive brand experience. Located in one of the world’s most influential luxury shopping districts, the Beverly Hills space blends contemporary architecture with California-inspired indoor-outdoor design, inviting visitors to explore the marque’s history, craftsmanship and future through curated exhibits and rotating activations. Los Angeles becomes the latest addition to Mercedes-Benz’s growing network of Studios in cities including Tokyo, Singapore, Munich and Toronto, each tailored to reflect its local culture while reinforcing the brand’s global identity.

For Tailored Driver readers, however, the true story lies behind a private door within the Studio.
The Los Angeles location houses the first MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure Hub in the United States and only the second worldwide after Mercedes-Benz’s Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, Germany. Accessible through appointments arranged by participating dealers, the space allows clients to work one-on-one with MANUFAKTUR specialists to configure highly personalized vehicles using an extensive palette of paints, leathers, woods and bespoke finishes that extend far beyond the standard options list.
The timing is no coincidence. Mercedes-Benz says the United States accounted for more than 40 percent of global MANUFAKTUR demand in 2025, making it the brand’s single most important market for individualization. That demand is also driving an expansion of the program itself, with MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure now extending to the Mercedes-AMG SL and Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe, opening access to hundreds of custom exterior finishes and virtually limitless combinations tailored to each owner’s vision.

The opening also served as the global stage for the debut of the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS, a vehicle that perhaps best illustrates where Mercedes-Benz believes luxury is headed. Beyond its flagship SUV credentials, the Maybach showcases the depth of MANUFAKTUR craftsmanship, including hand-finished leather interiors and an extraordinary leather headliner assembled entirely by a single artisan using as many as 20 individually cut sections. It’s the sort of detail few passengers may consciously notice, yet precisely the kind of craftsmanship that separates true bespoke luxury from simple option packages.
As more ultra-luxury brands compete for increasingly selective clientele, exclusivity is no longer measured solely by horsepower, performance or price. The ability to commission a vehicle that reflects an owner’s personal tastes has become one of the industry’s most valuable currencies.

Mercedes-Benz Studio Los Angeles is, in many ways, a physical expression of that philosophy. It is less about putting customers into a new Mercedes-Benz than inviting them to help create one.
