Porsche Expands Manthey Partnership With Plans for Limited-Production Cars and More Personalization

Porsche has increased its stake in Manthey Racing GmbH to 67 percent, strengthening a partnership that is set to produce more performance upgrades, exclusive track experiences and special models built in very small numbers. The move accompanies the creation of Home of Sports Cars, a framework bringing together Porsche’s Performance, Exclusiveness and Heritage activities under its broader Sportwagenschmiede ’35 strategy.

For customers interested in a more individual Porsche, the announcement connects several distinct ways of tailoring a car. Manthey brings motorsport engineering and performance development, while Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur provide the factory personalization component. Porsche intends to expand these activities, with highly individualized vehicles at the top of the offering.

Performance Becomes a Larger Part of the Personalization Business

Porsche’s increased investment in Manthey gives performance a prominent role in its push toward greater exclusivity. The company plans to deepen the collaboration beyond its own GT models, developing products for both road and track. The proposed offering ranges from upgrades for existing cars to complete special models and experiences that allow owners to explore their vehicles’ capabilities on a circuit.

The most intriguing element is the prospect of cars produced in exceptionally small numbers. Porsche has not disclosed the models, specifications or production quantities involved, but it has identified these projects as an intended part of the expanded partnership. That creates scope for exclusivity based on engineering and vehicle configuration as well as appearance.

Within Home of Sports Cars, Manthey sits in the Performance area, while Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur form the Exclusiveness component. Heritage completes the three-part structure. Porsche has not detailed how customers will move between these services or whether future commissions will combine them, but the framework places them within a shared business direction.

Nine Manthey Kits Since 2020

The expanded relationship builds on an established product programme. Since 2020, Porsche and Manthey have developed nine joint Manthey Kits, covering vehicles from the 718 and 911 to the latest Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package. That range already demonstrates how the partnership extends across different Porsche model lines and powertrain types.

Porsche now intends to develop that business further, using Manthey’s experience to strengthen the connection between motorsport and production vehicles. The release does not specify the content of future kits, so the next phase remains a product direction rather than a fully announced catalogue. Its inclusion alongside complete special models suggests several levels of customer involvement, from modifying an existing Porsche to purchasing a more exclusive vehicle.

A Partnership Built on Competition

Manthey brings 30 years of GT experience to the arrangement. Its competition record includes seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, six class wins at Le Mans, multiple FIA World Endurance Championship titles and DTM championships. Those results underpin the performance business Porsche is seeking to expand.

The company’s roots lie in founder Olaf Manthey’s racing career, with its operations near the Nürburgring providing a close connection to the circuit and its customer racing community. Joint managing directors Nicolas and Martin Raeder remain central to the business, and the announcement describes the increased Porsche stake as the next step in a collaboration that has developed over the past 13 years.

For buyers, that competition background gives the partnership a clear foundation. Porsche is building its expanded offering around a company already involved in developing, preparing and racing its cars, with an established customer base for performance products and experiences.

Two Anniversary Models to Debut at Hockenheim

Manthey will provide an initial preview of future joint projects with two special models celebrating its 30th anniversary. Their presentation is scheduled for October 9 at 13:30 CEST during the DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring. The announcement does not identify the cars or confirm their availability, making the reveal the next opportunity to assess how the expanded partnership will translate into actual vehicles.

The setting also places the presentation alongside Manthey’s championship campaign. Heading into the finale, Thomas Preining leads the drivers’ standings by 23 points, while Manthey holds a 20-point advantage in the teams’ standings. The company is pursuing its third DTM championship victory in four years.

A Broader Definition of a Tailored Porsche

Home of Sports Cars gives Porsche a framework for expanding individuality through craftsmanship, performance and heritage. Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur remain central to the specification side of that business, while the larger Manthey investment adds momentum to performance kits, track experiences and limited-production projects.

The anniversary cars should offer the first concrete indication of that direction. Beyond them, the significance of the announcement is Porsche’s commitment to making these activities a larger part of its business—and giving customers more ways to distinguish their cars through both design and engineering.
