There are unique specifications and then there are the ones we’d have never guessed. Chalk this Porsche Macan Electric up to the latter. To some it may represent the question no one ever asked. To others it may be so unique that it’s a must have. Whatever your view, we knew we had to share this one as part of our Acquired Taste series.
On the outside is Porsche’s take on Papaya Orange, a Paint to Sample hue that’s a darker metallic red than most Papayas that tend to follow the model made by McLaren. Porsche’s Papaya is a handsome orange, one that works well with Neodyme muted gold accents such as door handles and wheels. This is all predictable if rare spec so far. However, it’s what’s inside that makes this car really stand out.

The modern Porsche Macan Electric offers as standard a Night Green leather option. While somewhat muted and subtle, there’s no doubt that it’s green. Install it in a neutral colored car such as black, grey, silver or white and it definitely seems at home in any Porsche. Install it in a somewhat clashing orange car though and the car takes on a solid 70s vibe when car companies were downright avantgard with their pairings.
Interestingly, the color contrasting wasn’t complete with the orange on green color way. In addition to that, the car also gets Bordeaux Red seatbelts.
So, best mix ever or worst mix ever? We doubt there’s much of a middle ground here. And while it’s a bit of a head scratcher, we’re guessing it’s a very rare specification that is likely to be purchased by someone who absolutely loves it.
