Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale ‘Perla Nera’ Revealed with Bespoke Exposed Carbon-Fiber Body

Alfa Romeo has unveiled a commissioned 33 Stradale named “Perla Nera,” featuring a fully exposed matte carbon-fiber body and an interior developed around its owner’s requirements. Presented at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese earlier this week, it is the only car in the 33-unit production run specified with this exterior treatment.

The name, Italian for “Black Pearl,” was chosen and officially registered by the owner, an Alfa Romeo collector. The commission extends beyond colors and materials to include a dedicated carbon-fiber layup, redesigned seats and headrests, and changes to the cabin’s storage arrangement.

Carbon Fiber as an Exterior Finish

The body’s carbon-fiber weave was arranged to follow the 33 Stradale’s contours. On the hood, it emphasizes the characteristic V-shaped motif, while a herringbone pattern continues across the roofline. The matte finish leaves that pattern visible throughout the exterior.

Achieving the specified appearance required the carbon fiber to be laid by hand in the molds, with particular attention to its alignment across the surfaces. Alfa Romeo says the owner was involved throughout the development of the layup and its associated technical details.

Black wheels complete the exterior specification. External badges have been omitted apart from the Alfa Romeo emblems, leaving the exposed weave as the principal visual detail.

Seats Developed Around the Owner

Inside, black Alcantara upholstery is paired with carbon-fiber trim. The sports seat was redesigned through fitting sessions and consultations to accommodate the owner’s physique and stated comfort and performance requirements.

The work included a revised interpretation of Alfa Romeo’s “cannelloni” seat pattern, repeated on the door panels and side sills. The headrest was also redesigned to improve its contact surface and incorporate a carbon-fiber insert carrying the Perla Nera name.

That name appears elsewhere in the cabin, including on a dedicated door-panel plaque and inside the storage compartment. The compartment itself was relocated to the rear wall using a purpose-designed bracket. Further details include the owner’s initials engraved on the Alfa rotary selector and a black Alcantara luggage set carrying the car’s production number.

Quadrifoglio and Autodelta symbols appear inside the car, retaining references to Alfa Romeo’s competition history within the otherwise monochromatic specification.

Twin-Turbo V6 Power

Perla Nera is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing more than 630 hp, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive. Alfa Romeo quotes a top speed of 207 mph and acceleration from zero to 62 mph in less than three seconds.

The underlying structure combines an aluminum H-frame chassis with a carbon-fiber monocoque. The commission brings carbon fiber’s appearance to the foreground while retaining the mechanical specification of the V6-powered 33 Stradale.

A Bottega Alfa Romeo Commission

The 33 Stradale was the first project developed by Bottega Alfa Romeo, now part of BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, the personalization operation serving Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Perla Nera demonstrates the scope of that program through changes to body finishing, upholstery, ergonomics and individual cabin components.

The most consequential elements are the dedicated carbon-fiber pattern and the seat development. Both required work beyond selecting finishes from a palette, with the owner participating in decisions affecting how the car looks and fits.

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Perla Nera will remain on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese through October 18, 2026.
