Slate Grey, 6MT, and just a scant 30 hour drive from this weekend's L'oe Show in Pottstown, PA, this Volkswagen Spektrum Golf R is a sure fire conduit to community.
This week has been admittedly California-based RS 6 Avant Performance heavy, but we saved the most impressive for last. Shown here in Audi exclusive Sonoma Green Matte Effect, this Tailored Driver looks downright aggressive- bonus points for bicolor wheels in place of the more commonly seen all-black rollers.
Perhaps the most logical of ways to interrupt our RS 6-fest is this Tailored Driver, which is currently on offer via Cars and Bids. Finished in Mercedes Benz's version of Gulf Blue offered through their Manufaktur program, this E63 S Wagon is admittedly a big swing that delivered incredible results. Does this have the right spec to win our Tailored Driver '600hp Wagon Wars'? We'll let the audience decide.
It’s long been known that Audi exclusive builds seem to happen in a cluster, but perhaps this is the first time we’ve seen it so literally. This is the second Nogaro Blue RS 6 Avant performance we’ve showcased, with a VIN number just 3 digits after the last.
The latest in our Tailored Driver arrive-and-drive finds, this RS 6 Avant Performance in Porsche's Chalk grey is the perfect combination of spec, location, and timing. Just 20 minutes from Sacramento International Airport and 200 miles from Cannery Row, someone with great taste, $150k to spend and some unused PTO could reasonably fly in and arrive at Monterey Car Week in style.
Rebuilt title and higher mileage be damned, this Tailored Driver is a deal in our eyes. One of a claimed 8 to leave the factory in Suzuka Grey and benefitting from the Europe-only wingback seats, it has all the makings of a great driver with just enough 'project' left to satisfy our desire to tinker.
Perhaps one of the more striking of Volkswagen’s Spektrum colors, this Cliff Green Golf R is sure to stand out regardless of your surroundings. More McLaren than MQB, Cliff is quite similar to the Woking firm’s Mantis Green which could either be a very good or very not-good thing depending on your appetite for attention.
It's weird to see two of Volkswagen Spektrum Golf R's in the same exact color for sale in such a short time, but in fairness Tailored Driver is an admittedly weird pursuit. This is the second Prussian Blue Metallic example we've spotted in two weeks.
We certainly love a good OEM+ build, and while this Tailored Driver may push the boundaries on that description, we think the overall theme fits squarely into the category. A CS-style hood, GTS-style lights, and M performance bits are all present here, if not quite as obvious as the 20" BBS LM wheels finished in Gold.
Proper commitment that Trinidad James would certainly appreciate, this all-Gulf-everything Tailored Driver understands how to follow a theme. Paint to Sample Gulf Blue has been applied to the body, the wheels, the badging, and perhaps inadvertently to the car's dealer-spec key tag.
