Bentley Teases the Return of the Supersports Ahead of New York Debut
Bentley Motors has confirmed the imminent return of one of its most revered nameplates — the Supersports. The Crewe-based marque will unveil the new model in New York on November 13 at 8:30 p.m. EST (1:30 a.m. GMT on November 14), marking the fourth time in the company’s 100-year history that the Supersports designation has graced a Bentley.
Lightest Bentley of the Modern Era
Bentley describes the forthcoming Supersports as the lightest car of the modern Bentley era and the first rear-wheel-drive Continental GT ever produced. Designed for “maximum driver engagement,” the model promises to be the most dynamic and performance-oriented version of the Continental GT line to date. Its limited production run underscores its rarity and exclusivity, echoing the spirit of the original 1925 Super Sports that defined Bentley’s early pursuit of speed and endurance.

A Legacy Reborn
The Supersports name carries deep heritage within the brand. The original 3-Litre Super Sports of 1925 was Bentley’s first true performance flagship and a key contributor to the company’s pre-war motorsport legend. The badge later reemerged on modern-era Continental GTs known for combining immense power with surprising agility and reduced weight — culminating most recently in the 2017 Continental Supersports, then Bentley’s fastest production car.
Now, a century after the first Super Sports, Bentley appears ready to evolve that legacy once more, with an emphasis on lightness and purity of driving experience. The shift to rear-wheel drive marks a decisive change in philosophy, aimed squarely at enthusiasts seeking connection over complexity.
The Next Chapter for Bentley Performance
The Supersports unveiling also arrives as Bentley transitions toward an electrified future under its Beyond100+ strategy, which will see the brand move to fully electric models in the coming years. In that context, the new Supersports may serve as a final celebration of Bentley’s grand touring tradition in its purest combustion form — a driver’s Bentley in every sense.
Further details, including performance figures, design specifications, and production numbers, will be revealed during the global debut in New York on November 13.
