Bentley Unveils Ombre by Mulliner at Monterey
Bentley Motors has revealed a striking new paint technique, Ombre by Mulliner, representing one of its most complex bespoke finishes to date. Created at the marque’s Dream Factory in Crewe, the new exterior treatment transitions between two distinct paint colours, creating a seamless fade across the length of the car. Available in three curated colour combinations, the finish will be offered exclusively through Bentley’s Mulliner division.

The Ombre process requires a meticulous 56 hours of craftsmanship, with two paint specialists applying the colours in carefully staged layers. Each vehicle begins with contrasting front and rear tones before the fade is blended using traditionally mixed paints. Because each colour behaves differently on application, technicians adapt in real time, ensuring every commission achieves a flawless result. While every car is unique, the process guarantees a uniform visual flow to the human eye.

The debut commission has been applied to a Continental GT Speed, unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week. Its body fades from Topaz at the nose to Windsor Blue at the rear, with the transition aligned to the car’s haunch line. The 22-inch ten-spoke swept wheels follow the same treatment, painted to mirror the colour shift of the body panels they occupy.

Inside, the same gradient design flows from Topaz hides at the front of the cabin to Beluga at the rear, accented with Dragonfly piping and stitching. Satin Beluga veneers, Bentley’s Rotating Display, the Naim for Bentley premium audio system, and Dark Chrome trim complete the specification. Following the Monterey debut, the Ombre process is now available to order worldwide through Bentley’s retailer network.
