Not a color combination you would expect or maybe even ask for, it’s highly likely the 964-era Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa you see here may very well be one of a kind. Clearly it was a special order for someone with very tailored tastes. Even better, it sits largely as it was delivered minus an aftermarket set of wheels that could easily be replaced with a set of period correct Porsche alloys like the always perfect Cup 1.

Most important is the spec, so let’s focus on that. Maritime Blue began as a Carrera Cup color in this era. While popularized in that time, it is still quite a rare option and likely would have been considered Paint to Sample at the time this car was built. We tend to see it more on coupes and maybe roadsters, but the Targa body style in the age of the 964 was the rarest body style and so Paint to Sample versions of it are even more unexpected.

Inside is where we see the car take the most radical departure. Definitely a special wishes car, the Targa made use of Mint Green leather. It also got added Mint Green leather on additional surfaces such as dashboard and instrument cluster surrounds.

Options are also curious. Rear windshield wipers are typically an unexpected option on most 911s. That it’s here on a Targa is again suggestive of someone with very clear tastes determining the car’s final configuration.

According to the listing dealer, the car has had three owners and was delivered new in Nüremberg, Germany. That first owner kept the car until 2006, then went to a German collector who sold it to its current French owner in 2024.

The car is at Atypic Cars in France, meaning importation would be required if you’re located in North America. Atypic specializes in unique cars, and we’ll focus on the ones old enough for import. In this case, they also list options and other details with a high degree of specificity. We’ll also include those here.

EU Market Find: Rare Green-on-Green 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa

While the Porsche 911 964 generation was definitely sold in the United States, the last of the primarily hand built and upright headlight air-cooled 911s has become a rare and valuable commodity thanks to the likes of Singer and RWB conversions. Given that, seeking out cars in Europe can not only net more selection, it can also pay a bonus with rare specifications most American buyers weren’t likely to order. We think this green-on-green 1991 911 Carrera 2 Targa qualifies.

EU Market Find: 1992 Porsche 911 Turbo in Mint Green

We’re hitting a theme this week of cars that have experienced color changes, and this one may be the most interesting yet. Get past the fact that it seems like you rarely if ever see a 964-generation 911 Turbo in Mint Green (much less one with less than 200 miles on the odometer), because that’s just the beginning of the story. You see, this car left the factory painted Paint to Sample Gulf Orange (gulforange; 019; non-metallic UNI; Porsche) with black interior.
