Green over green is a unique thing, even if the Pistachio Green paint of this Saab 99 Turbo was a standard color. It’s not clear Saab ever even paint to sample back then, but light metallic greens over green interior isn’t exactly a common thing in today’s parlance… something that makes this car unique enough to make the cut.

Its specialness doesn’t end there though. This Saab is a 99, what they called the earlier version of the original 900. This is the generation of car where the turbocharger debuted. It’s also a sedan – a rare (for Saab) body style that wasn’t offered once the 900 was introduced. Its unobtainium status falls even more into line when you consider the 99 Turbo with sedan body style was only ever offered for one year (1978) in the United States.

This car is a Euro spec example, found on AutoScout24. Interestingly, some quick research on the car turned up a similar example once listed on Bring a Trailer back before that site was an auction site. That was 2015, so don’t expect to pay 2015 prices today. Even still, even if you’re not a Saab-o-phile, this car is so drastically unique that it’d make for a most interesting acquisition no matter your marque-specific tribal preferences.

EU Market Find: Rare Saab 900 Turbo S Ruby Edition Hits Market in Netherlands

Nothing says 1980s quite like a Saab 900 Turbo. Back in the Reagan era and even then quirky, Saabs came into vogue for their unique shape, hatchback and early use of turbochargers… not to mention kitschy yet trademark three-spoke wheel designs. The Swedish brand from Trollhättan built a cult-like following, long before being purchased by GM and later shuttered by GM during the great recession.
