Gunther Werks GWX: The Pinnacle of the Porsche 993 Remastered

Gunther Werks, long celebrated for reimagining the Porsche 911 with precision and purpose, has revealed its most exclusive creation to date: the GWX. Positioned as the absolute apex of the company’s offerings, this latest evolution is more than a performance car — it is a distillation of every lesson the marque has learned in remastering Stuttgart’s icon. With only three examples to be crafted, and access granted solely by invitation, the GWX occupies rarefied air even within the rarified world of Gunther Werks.

At its core, the GWX builds upon the proven foundations of the firm’s prior programs, but with a sharper edge and an arsenal of technological advancements. Beneath its carbon-clad form lies the second-generation 4.0-liter flat-six — a masterpiece producing 440 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Yet the real revelation lies in its adoption of advanced sliding throttle body plates, eliminating obstruction to airflow at full throttle and delivering lightning-quick response across the rev range. A bespoke drive-by-wire system, engineered expressly for this application, serves as the nerve center of the innovation.

Visually, the GWX declares its separation from its siblings through a suite of entirely bespoke carbon-fiber bodywork. Every element — from vented front fenders to the frame-mounted rear wing with decklid ram air scoop — has been shaped for aerodynamic precision and uncompromising downforce. The catalog of components reads like a technical sonnet: vented rear bumpers with integrated diffusers, flared side skirts, and a Race Edition front bumper, each contributing to the car’s relentless focus on performance.

The aesthetic language of the GWX is as deliberate as its engineering. Draped in an in-house-developed Candy Purple, its form glows with depth and dimension, accented by silver pinstriping and a central ribbon of exposed herringbone carbon fiber running the length of the car. This interplay of paint and weave is not mere decoration — it speaks to the artisanal care embedded in each build. Beneath the surface, chassis rigidity is elevated through rear bracing technology first conceived for Gunther Werks’ Turbo program, underscoring the GWX’s dual commitment to form and function.

“Our new GWX takes all we have learned with remastering the Porsche 911 platform and pushes it even further,” reflects Peter Nam, CEO and founder of Gunther Werks. For the few who will take delivery, this is not simply ownership of a car, but an invitation into a realm where artistry and mechanical mastery converge. In the GWX, Gunther Werks has not just refined the 911 — it has rendered it anew, at the very height of its potential.
