Nowadays, black optics seem almost ubiquitous wherein chrome optics take on a quality of rarity. Under such conditions, finding cars that simply haven’t been murdered out by the factory almost seem to have a fresh quality to them. That’s where this Audi exclusive S5 Sportback Prestige at Audi Wilmington falls onto the spectrum.

That’s before you get to the paint. The color in question is Dark Red Mica. It’s also an uncommon color. Yes, we featured another 2021 Audi in the same color earlier this week and we’re currently working to confirm an SQ7 that may also be this color, but we’d argue that’s a coincidence. It’s still quite rare.

It’s also quite striking. This is a dark red. Like, if it’s dirty it almost look black. However, it’s still got this cabernet-like red undertone even in low light.

EU Market Find: Nogaro Edition Audi ur quattro in Switzerland

Despite evidence you may see here suggesting otherwise, Nogaro Blue as a paint color didn’t show up at Audi until the RS2 era. If you’re doing the math, that’s about a decade before this 1983 Audi quattro left the factory. Yet here it sits.
So how’d it happen? Auto Bordin, the Swiss dealer listing this car tells the story fairly comprehensively, and so we’re going to post the English translation below.
