A rare opportunity has surfaced for Ferrari purists: RM Sotheby’s is offering a 2012 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano equipped with a six-speed gated manual gearbox — the final Ferrari road car ever produced with a factory-installed manual transmission.

Finished in Canna di Fucile over a Cuoio leather interior, this 599 GTB lays claim to rarity, heritage and performance. RM Sotheby’s Delivered to Hong Kong in right-hand drive, this example carries the high-end HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evolution) package, unique identification as “THE FINAL 599 GTB MANUAL” on a plaque in the parcel shelf and a signed door sill by then-Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo.

Under the hood lies Ferrari’s naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12, producing 612 horsepower and revving to over 8,000 rpm — all harnessed through the manual shifter topped by Ferrari’s signature polished metal gate. The HGTE upgrade lowers ride height, adds stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, a retuned exhaust, lightweight wheels and a gearbox optimized for faster shifts, giving this 599 a closer kinship with the 599 GTO and 599XX.

Beyond its performance credentials, the appeal of this car lies in its purity. The manual-transmission 599 is the intersection of two worlds — modern super-car performance blended with the analog engagement that defined earlier Ferraris. Each gear change is a deliberate act, connecting driver to engine in a way few contemporary machines replicate.

For collectors, this isn’t just a car; it’s a bookmark in Maranello’s history. Ferrari’s move toward automated transmissions had been under way for years — the 599 manual count sits at only 30 examples globally. This particular car, chassis number 187007, is documented as the final manual gearbox-equipped 599 GTB built, and hence the last manual-transmission Ferrari road car ever produced.

With sealed bids now being accepted through RM Sotheby’s, this is a chance to claim not only one of the rarest Ferraris built but also the final chapter in a lineage that began with the 250 series and concludes here — the last true manual Ferrari.
