Maserati has done precisely that with a bespoke GT2 Stradale commissioned through its Fuoriserie personalization program, creating a one-of-one supercar that honors the legendary MC12 while demonstrating the full breadth of the marque’s custom-order capabilities.
Built for a collector in Taiwan, the GT2 Stradale “Tribute to MC12” was unveiled at Maserati’s historic headquarters in Modena before being delivered as part of a carefully curated ownership experience. Rather than simply handing over the keys, Maserati welcomed its client behind the scenes with a private tour of the Viale Ciro Menotti factory, a journey through Italy’s Motor Valley and a visit to the renowned Umberto Panini Collection, home to many of the Trident’s most significant historic automobiles. The experience underscores a growing trend among luxury manufacturers, where commissioning a bespoke automobile is increasingly accompanied by access to the heritage and craftsmanship that shaped it.
Visually, the car draws its inspiration from one of Maserati’s most successful competition cars. Its Matte Digital Mint and Nero Essenza finish, accented with Giallo Avia Pervia details, recalls the Vitaphone Racing Team MC12 GT1 that claimed three victories at the Spa 24 Hours during the mid-2000s. Yellow Trident emblems, gloss carbon-fiber aerodynamic components and center-lock wheels reinforce the connection between road car and race car, while a first for the GT2 Stradale sees every exposed carbon aerodynamic element finished in gloss rather than the more familiar matte treatment.
The motorsport influence continues inside, where black Alcantara racing seats feature yellow embroidered Tridents and matching four-point harnesses. Yellow contrast stitching extends throughout the cabin, complemented by extensive carbon-fiber trim and a bespoke “Tribute to MC12” plaque commissioned exclusively for this example. Like the exterior, every detail reflects the close collaboration between the owner, Maserati’s Centro Stile and the Fuoriserie team in Modena.
Mechanically, the one-off remains faithful to the GT2 Stradale formula. Power comes from Maserati’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 producing 640 horsepower, enough to propel the car from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds before reaching a top speed exceeding 320 km/h. Derived directly from the GT2 race car, it combines lightweight construction, aggressive aerodynamics and track-focused engineering with the usability expected of a road-going Maserati.
More significant than the specifications, however, is what this commission represents.
