McLaren Unveils Project Viva, a Bespoke 750S Spider Honoring Las Vegas
McLaren Automotive has revealed Project Viva, a one-off 750S Spider created by McLaren Special Operations and inspired by the spectacle, rhythm and architecture of Las Vegas. Unveiled ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the commission serves as a dramatic showcase of MSO’s ability to translate emotion, place and narrative into design.
Rather than leaning into the city’s signature neon palette, Project Viva reimagines Las Vegas through deliberate monochrome artistry. The hand-painted “Sketch in Motion” livery becomes a visual story told in linework, capturing everything from iconic signage to skyline silhouettes to the city’s inextricable ties to music and performance. MSO weaves these elements into a broader narrative that also references McLaren’s racing heritage and modern design language.

Two bespoke MSO paints anchor the project. Muriwai White appears as an architectural motif, while a new color created specifically for this commission, Vegas Nights, provides a deep black base scattered with flecks of cyan, magenta and green. The effect suggests the shimmering glow of the Strip after dark, distilled into subtle metallic highlights rather than overt color.
Adding an unexpected personal touch, McLaren Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri contributed their own hand-applied details to the car. Their additions include the team’s tenth Constructors’ World Championship star on the rear bumper, along with sketches and signature linework. The result links McLaren’s presence in Las Vegas with the team’s ongoing momentum in Formula 1.

According to Jonathan Simms, Director of McLaren Special Operations, Project Viva encapsulates MSO’s mission to push beyond convention and turn individual inspiration into something meaningful and beautifully crafted. For clients, he says, the division exists to transform vision into authenticity through design.
Project Viva will be showcased at the McLaren Experience Center inside the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel from November 13 to 20, offering an up-close look at both the brand’s latest bespoke commission and the full creative reach of McLaren Special Operations.
