New Audi RS 5 with Interesting Color and Trim Choices

Audi’s new RS 5 marks a turning point mechanically as Audi Sport’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid, but from a spec perspective, the more compelling story may be how much attention has been given to color and materials choices the brand also chose to showcase.

This generation leans heavily into the usual RS formula of an integrated widebody. Compared to the standard A5, the RS 5 is widened by roughly four centimeters per side front and rear, giving it the proper RS stance. Flared fenders, aggressive air curtains, a pronounced rear diffuser and centrally positioned matte oval exhaust outlets establish the baseline. From there, color and trim define the personality.

Exterior Colors: Beyond the Obvious

Audi Sport plans to offer nine standard colors, including Ascari Blue metallic, Mythos Black metallic and Progressive Red metallic. Each works well against the RS 5’s widened bodywork and gloss black detailing.

Where it gets more interesting is through Audi exclusive. Effect paints such as Merlin pearl effect, Goodwood Green and Panther Black crystal effect allow buyers to move away from more typical colors. There is also a model-exclusive matte Plateau Grey, which visually flattens the body surfacing and emphasizes the squared-off fender extensions.

The black exterior package is standard, meaning window surrounds, door handle inserts, badging and darkened Audi rings are all gloss black. Carbon elements are available through a dedicated carbon design package, replacing gloss black blades, diffuser inserts and side elements with exposed carbon fiber for a more technical look.

Wheels and Brake Presentation

Wheel choice is central to the car’s visual identity. Standard fitment is a 20-inch matte grey 5-Y-spoke wheel. The more dramatic option is the forged 21-inch twin-spoke wheel, offered in metallic black, Neodymium grey matte or bi-color diamond-cut and black metallic.

Behind them sit either 20-inch RS steel brakes or the optional 21-inch RS ceramic brakes. The ceramics not only reduce unsprung weight by roughly 30 kilograms, but they can be specified with bronze calipers when paired with the RS Sport package, creating a deliberate color contrast that changes the entire stance of the car.

The RS Sport Package: Maximum Specification

For those who want the most visually distinct RS 5, the RS Sport package is the focal point.

Externally, the package introduces more aggressive front air intakes, a reshaped rear diffuser and matte black exhaust tips. Top speed increases to 285 km/h (177 mph), but visually the most important element is Bedford Green metallic, a color exclusive to the RS Sport package.

The package-specific 21-inch bi-color wheel with satin matte coating is another signature detail. Pair that with bronze ceramic calipers and optional Carbon Camouflage trim (effectively forged carbon fiber), and the RS 5 takes on a more exotic look.

Carbon Camouflage elements can be extended to the front fascia wings, side sill inserts, rear fascia and mirror housings. Inside, matte Carbon Camouflage decorative inlays continue the theme.

Interior: Material Contrast and Detail

The interior offers five distinct design themes, including a leather-free configuration using Cascade cloth and Dinamica microfiber, or traditional leather interiors in red or grey with climate-controlled sport seats.

Standard RS differentiation includes honeycomb quilting, contrast seat belts and RS logos on the floor mats. Highlight surfaces are finished in dark metallic vanadium, including shift paddles and trim elements.

The RS Sport package interior is where things become even more tailored. Dinamica deep black dominates, while brass-colored accents and Serpentine Green contrast stitching provide a dramatic counterpoint. The honeycomb seat quilting, seat belts, floor mat stitching and a specific 6 o’clock steering wheel insert are all coordinated in Serpentine Green.

It is a bold combination and clearly intended for buyers who want something beyond the typical black-on-black RS execution.

A Tailored Take

Mechanically, the new RS 5 represents Audi Sport’s electrified future. A 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 paired with a 130 kW electric motor produces 470 kW (639 PS), and the new Dynamic Torque Control system redefines how the platform distributes power.

But from a specification standpoint, this generation may be one of the most customizable RS 5s yet. Between matte finishes, effect paints, forged wheels, bronze brake calipers, carbon camouflage and Serpentine Green stitching, buyers can lean conservative or fully expressive.

In RS Sport trim—especially in Bedford Green metallic with bronze ceramics—the RS 5 shifts from high-performance coupe or Avant into something distinctly curated.
