Porsche Delivers First 911 Carrera 4 GTS ‘Tribute to Transfăgărășan’
Porsche has delivered the first example of its special-edition 911 Carrera 4 GTS ‘Tribute to Transfăgărășan,’ a project limited to just 10 cars that celebrates one of the world’s most spectacular driving routes. The delivery took place in Romania, where the owner marked the occasion with a drive on the Transfăgărășan itself — a 90-kilometre highway that cuts across the Făgăraș mountains and links Muntenia with Transylvania.
The idea for the model emerged in 2024, when both the Transfăgărășan and the 911 Turbo celebrated their 50th anniversaries. Porsche clubs in Romania and Moldova hosted a commemorative event on the road, bringing together 110 cars and 200 guests. Inspired by that occasion, Porsche’s Sonderwunsch team in Zuffenhausen began developing a limited series that would allow customers to create highly individualised tributes. “When we experienced the Transfăgărășan during the 911 Turbo’s 50th anniversary last year, we found a lot of inspiration for this individualisation package,” said Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation & Classic at Porsche. “Therefore, we decided to not only create one but 10 individualised cars that pay tribute to one of the most legendary and inspiring parts of Romania.”

The first car is finished in Paint to Sample Graphite Grey with Guards Red accents on the wheel spokes and headlight rings. A “Tribute to Transfăgărășan” decal appears on the doors, while the B-pillars carry a badge identifying the car as part of the series. At the rear, the engine grille incorporates subtle blue, yellow, and red highlights representing the Romanian flag. Inside, the special branding continues with illuminated door sill guards, embroidered headrests, and embossed logos on the armrest and passenger-side dashboard.
While the 10 cars share commemorative elements such as the decals, flag accents, and interior logos, each was also uniquely configured by its owner through the Sonderwunsch programme. Custom paint, interior materials, and accessories ensure that no two examples are the same. Customers previewed their cars earlier this year at the Sonderwunsch Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen, where they finalised details with Porsche specialists. The remaining nine cars will be delivered at a special event in August.

“The Transfăgărășan is well-known by car enthusiasts all over the world for its magnificent landscapes and its hairpin turns,” said Adrian Pascu of Porsche Inter Auto Romania. “I look forward to seeing these exceptional cars being driven on the very road they are honouring.”
Beyond its exclusivity, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS ‘Tribute to Transfăgărășan’ features the latest performance technology. At its core is Porsche’s new T-Hybrid system, built around a 3.6-litre boxer engine producing 398 kW (541 PS) and 610 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h. Despite its hybrid technology, the model adds just 50 kilograms over its predecessor while delivering 61 PS more power, reduced CO₂ emissions, and highly dynamic driving characteristics.
