Porsche is leaning into pop culture once again, this time partnering with The Walt Disney Company and Pixar to create three one-off Porsche 911 builds inspired by Toy Story 5.
The trio—channeling Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie—will debut at the film’s Los Angeles premiere ahead of its June 19, 2026 theatrical release.
Character-Driven Design, Not Costume Cars
Rather than leaning into overt, theme-park-style execution, the builds come through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program, where design language is translated through material, color, and subtle detailing.
According to Pixar production designer Bob Pauley, the goal was to interpret each character without becoming literal. That approach aligns with Sonderwunsch’s typical brief—elevated customization that reads as design-forward rather than novelty.
Expect cues that reference Woody’s Western palette, Buzz Lightyear’s space-age tones, and Jessie’s more playful contrast work, all applied with the restraint expected of a modern 911 build.

Built in Zuffenhausen, Finished by Hand
Each car begins life on the production line in Zuffenhausen before moving into a hand-finished phase. That process allows Porsche to go beyond standard paint-to-sample or interior programs, incorporating bespoke materials, finishes, and one-off detailing throughout.
While Porsche has not confirmed exact specifications, the focus here is less about performance differentiation and more about craftsmanship and storytelling—an area where Sonderwunsch has increasingly been used to create collector-grade one-offs.
One Sale, Charitable Focus
The three cars will not be sold individually. Instead, Porsche plans to offer them as a single lot as part of a charitable initiative supporting organizations focused on children and community needs.
That structure reinforces the collaboration’s broader intent: combining nostalgia with design while tying the project to a tangible philanthropic outcome.
A Familiar Strategy with a Broader Audience
For Porsche Cars North America, the project mirrors prior collaborations that extend the brand beyond traditional automotive circles. This time, the connection is generational.
The Toy Story franchise—fronted by characters voiced by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack—has long traded on nostalgia. Pairing that with the enduring silhouette of the 911 creates a crossover that feels designed to resonate with both enthusiasts and a broader cultural audience.
With Toy Story 5 exploring themes of toys in a digital-first world, the collaboration lands at a moment where analog emotion and modern tech continue to intersect—something Porsche has increasingly leaned into with both product and brand storytelling.
Release Timing
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters June 19, 2026. The three Sonderwunsch-built 911s will make their first public appearance at the film’s red carpet premiere in Los Angeles, with additional details on their eventual sale expected to follow.
