Ring Brothers in Monterey with Reimagined Aston Martin DBS “Octavia”
SPRING GREEN, Wis./Carmel, Calif. — Ringbrothers, the acclaimed custom car builder, debuted its latest project at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering: a fully reimagined 1971 Aston Martin DBS known as “OCTAVIA.” The car marks the company’s first Aston Martin build and its debut appearance at Monterey Car Week, underscoring the brand’s reputation for turning icons into bold new statements of design and engineering.

The project consumed more than 12,000 hours of work, starting with an original DBS and reshaping it into a modern interpretation crafted largely from carbon fiber. While honoring William Towns’ original silhouette, the new bodywork is wider, sharper, and more muscular, sitting over a custom Roadster Shop FAST TRACK chassis. Power comes from a Ford Performance 5.0-liter V8 paired with a Harrop supercharger, producing 805 horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Every element of the car was designed bespoke, from billet aluminum and 3D-printed stainless steel trim to a carbon-fiber dashboard and pleated leather interior. The build incorporates innovations like Gentex’s auto-dimming visors and a suite of onboard cameras, alongside playful details such as valve covers reading “Aston Martini” and a martini-glass-shaped dipstick handle. Designer Gary Ragle contributed to the car’s refined curvature and countless bespoke elements, while collaborations with partners like HRE Wheels and BASF brought the details to life.

Finished in Double-0 Silver with Nuclear Olive Green accents, “OCTAVIA” blends British sophistication with American performance. With its widened stance, one-off wheels, Brembo brakes, and Fox coilovers, the car is engineered for both aesthetics and dynamic capability. As co-owner Mike Ring put it, “We’ve combined the ferocity of American muscle with the stiff upper lip of English sophistication.” The result is not just a build, but what Ringbrothers describes as a modern “mechanical work of art” worthy of the Monterey stage.
