Goldilocks references aside, the middleweight SQ8 in many ways is just right. Shown here in the admittedly ubiquitous Nardo Grey paired with Arras Red leather interior and finished with the Black Optic package, the Tailor of this certainly didn't take a risk.
Market Find: 960hp Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue RS 3 Sedan

When launched, it wasn't hard to draw parallels between the then-new Audi RS 3 sedan and the tuner's darling B5 generation S4. Apart from physical size, it had great aftermarket potential, solid interior quality, and was understated enough that it wouldn't cause a scene in the lot of Whole Foods.
Market Find: 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant in Cumulus Blue
Though it's certainly close in specification to the car we featured back in January at Audi Frederick in Maryland, these cars are not the same. That one was new, and this one is just barely used. This one also has grey brake calipers, Alcantara on the steering wheel and shift knob, and what looks like perhaps an aftermarket matte carbon fiber rear upper spoiler.

If there was ever a car that fit the Tailored Driver ethos, this is quite possibly it. George and I had met previously, but really bonded over driving then-new Samoa Orange Audi models- his a TT competition, mine the boss's S5 - and attending just about every VW Group event in the Mid-Atlantic.

While we find any tailored car to be special, cars in the rarest of colors built in eras where rare specifications weren't that prevalent grab us a little extra hard. Now, make it a car like and enthusiast legend like the B5 RS 4 with its Cosworth-tuned-from-the-factory 2.7-liter biturbo and wagon configuration and we're even more enthused.

Call it frequency delusion if you will, but we're quite happy when a second of something pops up, even moreso when it happens to be a personal favorite.

The facelifted Audi SQ8 is still relatively new to the market, and in as much we haven't seen much in the way of Audi exclusive examples yet. Typically these begin with special orders then eventually start slipping through with dealer-ordered examples. So while we've seen a lot of updated SQ8s on the market, this is one of the first Audi exclusive examples we've seen available at a dealership.
