European Market Find: 1994 BMW Individual Violet Blue 318is Coupé in Switzerland
However special or deep the options list may have been for European market BMW buyers in the 1990s, cars remained expensive to own and operate. Seeing an exceedingly well appointed and appreciable specification with a small displacement engine wasn’t uncommon, which is how you end up with such a special build on what would otherwise be a more mundane BMW model.
Market Find: 2024 Porsche Paint to Sample Ipanema Blue Metallic 911 Targa 4S
Will·
To put it simply, Porsche's Paint to Sample Ipanema Blue Metallic is a color you just don't see very often- if ever. The 911 Targa 4S represents an incredibly attractive package offering the best of both open and closed top worlds, although we acknowledge the neither coupe nor cab body style isn't for everyone.
Market Find: 2022 Porsche Paint to Sample Club Blue Taycan 4S
Will·
We'd be lying if we didn't admit that the Taycan 4S is a fairly interesting proposition. Decent range and (we think) great looks and astonishing speed are certainly the highlights, but this Tailored Driver package is rounded out nicely by Porsche's Paint to Sample Club Blue.
European Market Find: Mystery Blue 1999 Mercedes-Benz E 55 AMG Avantgarde Wagon
Hear us out. Yes, we know the E 55 AMG Station Wagon was sold in the United States. They're exceedingly rare, especially in solid survivor condition, but they were sold here. Still, anyone who loves these cars or is seeking a unique long roof may find this one worth going through the extra effort of importation. That it's old enough for easy import is one obvious reason, but more so is the unique build specification this car got from the factory. This sort of specification would have been extremely difficult if not impossible for anyone in North America to order, so it's worth noting... even if it does have a dash of turn-of-the-century Y2K kitsch in the color choices.
Market Find: 2024 Porsche Paint to Sample Nogaro Blue Cayenne Turbo GT
Will·
We're suckers for Nogaro Blue, but this Tailored Driver in some ways brings it back to its roots. But rather than be an Audi massaged by Porsche like the RS 2 where Nogaro debuted, this is a Porsche with Audi's 4.0TFSI slightly massaged by Stuttgart.
European Market Find: Restored 1980 BMW 323i in Biscay Blue
Though not as iconic as the 2002 that came before it, nor as loved by enthusiasts as the E30 that came after it, BMW's E21 3-Series still captures that classic 80s BMW style and makes for an excellent driver... particularly in top-of-the-heap 323i form. Alas, we didn't get the 323i in the States, which means you have to look in Europe for cars like this private party listed example from Haren, Germany.
Market Find: Porsche Paint to Sample Albert Blue 2024 911 Turbo S Cabriolet
We see a lot of blue Porsches, and we even see a lot of Paint to Sample Porsches, but we don’t see a lot of Albert Blue Porsches. We also don’t see a lot of non-metallic dark and almost navy blue colors, making it even more unique. Albert Blue is believed to have first dropped in 1970 on the F-type “long hood” 911s, and specifying it as was done here is a great nod to a lesser known hue from the Porsche history books.
Porsche Singapore x Sonderwunsch Pay Tribute to Mille Miglia with GT3 Touring
A trend with some roots in history from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department we’re really coming to appreciate is the...
Market Find: 2019 Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue RS 5 Sportback
Will·
Audi's B9 generation RS 5 is pretty tough to beat- good power, great size, and featuring a modernized interpretation of box flares. This Tailored Driver is finished in Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue (LZ5M) over Black leather with Rock Grey stitching, alu-optic exterior trim, and was optioned with the dynamic package which raises the speed limiter and adds Carbon Ceramic brakes.
Color Focus: Porsche Maritime Blue – 5MB
Near as we can tell, Maritime Blue (maritimblau; non-metallic UNI; 5MB; Porsche) as a color was introduced or at least popularized during the 964 era. Porsche Club’s Rennbow website lists it as mainly available from 1991 to about 1995 with a few exceptions since and potentially in 1979 on the Carrera SC. They also suggest it may have evolved from early Porsche Enamel Blue. Whatever the case, the idea is simple enough – a practically primary blue that harks early national racing colors of France, often referred to as French Blue and popularized in those early pre-war racing years by Bugatti.
