Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2026 Confirms ‘Automotive Tailoring’ and Other Class Details
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2026 will return to Lake Como from May 15–17 with a revised class structure that leans further into design, craftsmanship, and historical context—none more compelling than a new category focused on the concept of “automotive tailoring.”
Headlining the class list is “Automotive Tailoring: The Decade of Opulence, 1924–1934,” a grouping that reframes pre-war coachbuilding through the lens of bespoke fashion. Rather than simply cataloging body styles or marques, the class highlights how cars of the era were commissioned, shaped, and finished much like tailored garments—individual expressions of wealth, taste, and identity.
That approach reflects a broader theme across this year’s concours. Organizers have structured the event around eight classes, each interpreting automotive history through a cultural or stylistic narrative—from pre-war streamlining and post-war extravagance to the rise of the modern supercar.
Approximately 50 vehicles will compete for the event’s top honors, including the Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show, alongside class awards and the audience-voted Coppa d’Oro. The traditional parade at Villa d’Este remains central to the weekend, with cars presented on the terrace overlooking Lake Como.

Beyond the concours lawn, the 2026 program expands with a dedicated racing exhibition at Villa Erba celebrating 40 years of the BMW M3, alongside appearances from notable touring car drivers. Public-facing elements—including the “Public Day – Il Festival” and the “Amici & Automobili” gathering—continue to broaden access to what has historically been a more exclusive event.
The event will also serve as a stage for new product reveals from BMW Group, including two world premieres, while BMW ALPINA is set to make its first public appearance following its 2026 repositioning.
As ever, Villa d’Este blends competition with presentation, but this year’s emphasis on themes like “Automotive Tailoring” signals a continued shift toward interpreting cars as cultural artifacts—objects shaped as much by design language and personal expression as by engineering.
