Porsche has unveiled another market-specific collector model, this time for Japan. Called the 911 GT3 Artisan Edition, the special series was developed jointly by Porsche Japan and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary in the country. Production is limited to just 30 examples, making it even rarer than the recently announced UK-market 911 GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition.
For American Porsche enthusiasts, the Artisan Edition represents one of the most extensive Japan-exclusive models the company has produced in recent years. Unlike many regional special editions that rely primarily on unique paint and trim, the Artisan Edition combines bespoke styling inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a factory-approved Manthey performance package designed to enhance track capability.

At its core is the familiar 992-generation 911 GT3 powered by Porsche’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six. Output remains unchanged at 510 PS (503 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, but every Artisan Edition comes equipped with the Manthey Performance Kit as standard. Available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, the model is aimed squarely at enthusiasts who value both driver engagement and circuit performance.
The visual theme draws heavily from traditional Japanese crafts, particularly Edo Kiriko glasswork and indigo dyeing, known locally as Aizome. The exterior is finished in white with extensive Club Blue Paint-to-Sample detailing and pale blue accents inspired by “Japan Blue,” a color historically associated with indigo dyeing. A gradient graphic treatment along the flanks is intended to symbolize the flow of air and time while visually linking the car to Manthey’s famous “Grello” Nürburgring race cars.

Several design cues recall earlier GT3 models. Large GT3 graphics on the front fenders and rear quarter panels reference the 997.2-generation GT3 RS, while exclusive Artisan Edition badging appears on the B-pillars. The wheels receive a particularly distinctive treatment, with high-gloss white front wheels paired with satin-finish Club Blue rear wheels. Matching center caps feature contrasting GT3 logos.
The Manthey aero package adds both visual drama and functional performance. Highlights include a carbon-fiber rear wing with enlarged end plates, carbon aero discs, revised front aerodynamic elements, a rear diffuser, and additional airflow management components developed to increase downforce and stability at high speeds.

One of the more interesting touches is hidden beneath the rear wing. Every Artisan Edition carries the handwritten phrase: “Engineered in Flacht, Sharpened in Meuspath, Built for Japan.” The inscription references Porsche’s GT development center in Flacht and Manthey’s headquarters in Meuspath near the Nürburgring.
Inside, the cabin continues the Japanese craftsmanship theme. Black leather and Race-Tex surfaces are contrasted by white and Speed Blue stitching. Custom carbon-backed bucket seats feature a newly developed textile insert with a gradient transition from white to Club Blue, inspired by traditional indigo dyeing techniques. Edo Kiriko-inspired patterns are incorporated into the upholstery, while illuminated sill plates feature exclusive Artisan Edition branding.

The interior also receives elements from the Weissach Package, including lightweight carbon-fiber door panels, a roll cage, and additional motorsport-focused details. Club Blue accents continue throughout the cabin, while the GT steering wheel features a white drive mode selector paired with a red button—a subtle nod to the colors of the Japanese flag.
Performance upgrades come from the factory-installed Manthey kit, which includes four-way adjustable coil-over suspension with aluminum dampers, stainless steel braided brake lines, upgraded brake pads, optimized aerodynamic components, and Manthey’s distinctive carbon aero discs. Porsche says the package enhances track performance without compromising everyday usability and builds upon the same engineering expertise that has helped Porsche GT models set production-car lap records at the Nürburgring.

The Artisan Edition is priced at ¥53,570,000, equivalent to approximately $370,000 at current exchange rates, before local taxes and fees. Production is limited to 30 examples, all reserved for the Japanese market.
As with Porsche’s recent UK-market Earls Court 51 Edition, the 911 GT3 Artisan Edition demonstrates the growing role of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in creating highly localized collector models that celebrate regional history and culture. In this case, the result is a uniquely Japanese interpretation of one of Porsche’s most focused driver’s cars.
