Goodwood Brings Its Road Racing Club to America

Goodwood is expanding beyond the United Kingdom for the first time, announcing plans to establish the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America, a new membership organization designed to bring the famed British automotive community to the United States. Unveiled during the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the initiative will launch in California in early 2027 before expanding to other regions across the country.

Rather than creating a single destination venue, the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America will revolve around experiences. Members will have access to a year-round calendar of track days, driving tours, private automotive events and curated social gatherings throughout California and Nevada. The club’s first marquee event is already scheduled for Willow Springs International Raceway in 2028, marking Goodwood’s first major event on American soil.

The concept builds on the success of the original Goodwood Road Racing Club, which has served as the heart of Goodwood’s motorsport community for nearly three decades. Like its British counterpart, the American club will welcome enthusiasts regardless of marque or vehicle type, emphasizing driving, participation and shared automotive passion over exclusivity tied to a particular manufacturer.

Membership will also extend beyond the United States. Goodwood says American members will receive reciprocal access to events in the UK, creating a direct link between the two organizations and offering enthusiasts opportunities to participate in experiences surrounding the Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and other events held at the historic Goodwood estate.

To help launch the venture, Goodwood has enlisted three founding patrons whose careers span multiple disciplines of motorsport: Formula 1 World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti, three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Richard Petty. Together, they underscore Goodwood’s ambition to celebrate all forms of automotive culture, from European road racing to American stock car competition.

California serves as a logical starting point for the expansion. Home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of collector cars, automotive events and enthusiast communities, the state also offers legendary venues such as Willow Springs, where the club’s first flagship gathering will take place. Goodwood says additional membership details, benefits and a complete event calendar will be announced ahead of the club’s official launch in 2027.

The announcement represents a significant evolution for Goodwood, transforming what has traditionally been a destination for enthusiasts willing to travel to England into a brand with a permanent presence in the United States. If successful, the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America could become one of the country’s most distinctive automotive membership organizations, combining British heritage with an American calendar built around getting members behind the wheel.
