This XKSS recreation combines hand-formed aluminum bodywork with Jaguar running gear, taking a remaster approach to the marque’s road-going D-Type derivative. Its appeal rests on the construction and specification of the recreation.

The donor was a 1967 E-Type Series 1 4.2-liter roadster originally sold in New York. Jaguar specialist Jim Tester carried out the transformation between 2015 and 2017, with Robert Gregson responsible for the riveted aluminum bodywork.

Power comes from a dry-sump 3.4-liter XK straight-six fitted with triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors and an all-synchro gearbox. Black paint is paired with red leather, competition seats, harnesses and a padded transmission tunnel, while 16-inch Dunlop peg-drive wheels complete the specification.

Stored after completion, the car was recommissioned and road-tested by Classic Performance Engineering in 2024. RM Sotheby’s notes that an export license will be required if it leaves the UK.
