One of the more fascinating and certainly the more storied in the Porsche 911 remastering game must certainly be Lanzante and their Porsche 911 TAG Turbos. After acquiring a bulk of former TAG Turbo F1 racing engines developed by Porsche for McLaren, the firm set about building a series of only eleven Porsche 911 Turbos fitted with them. In doing so, they created the ultimate tribute inspired by the one-off Porsche TAG Turbo test car built by Porsche's own R&D department.

While the Porsche 911 964 generation was definitely sold in the United States, the last of the primarily hand built and upright headlight air-cooled 911s has become a rare and valuable commodity thanks to the likes of Singer and RWB conversions. Given that, seeking out cars in Europe can not only net more selection, it can also pay a bonus with rare specifications most American buyers weren't likely to order. Market Find: Porsche Paint to Sample Venetian Blue Metallic 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet

This 997 is finished in Porsche's Venetian Blue Metallic, a medium blue-ish grey with deep roots in the G body era of 911s, which we simply do not see very often. Perhaps a byproduct of the G body's underappreciation until very recent times, we can't really blame any Tailors for simply overlooking Venetian- it's not the brightest, the most vibrant, and nor the most legendary of Porsche's secret menu.

Ruf placed itself decidedly on the performance car map in 1987 when its twin-turbocharged CTR dubbed "Yellowbird" showed up and dominated Road & Track's Top Speed Shootout, besting the likes of the Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Countach and Porsche 959. Then, in 1995, it launched a credible successor to the Yellowbird when it debuted the 993-based CTR2.
