Market Find: 2011 Porsche Paint to Sample Speed Yellow 911 Speedster
Will·
As frequent visitors have learned- we're massive fans of the 997-generation 911. The right size, modern (enough) tech, and still hints of that analog driving experience, the 997 also had the benefit of being the real start of Porsche's endless variant strategy and proliferation of Paint to Sample. This particular 997 in Paint to Sample Speed Yellow has another big thing going for it, being a Speedster.
Market Find: 2014 Audi exclusive A4 quattro in Imola Yellow
A part of the tailored car segment we find to be most interesting are older examples, leaving us interested in how they've held up and how they price in against comparable cars of their age.
Market Find: Audi exclusive Imola Yellow S6 sedan
Will·
Imola Yellow isn't exactly a hue for the introverted, and by choosing a big, bright, non-metallic Yellow, we are certain the original Tailor of this S6 didn't mind standing out. The C7-generation S6 is an absolute ground pounder out of the box, and when not yellow, it blends into highway traffic quite well- so well that one was used to set a Cannonball record.
EU Market Find: Speed Yellow Porsche 968 Clubsport
There are fewer and fewer deals to be had in the Porsche world, particularly amongst rare models, performance models or in rare colors. That's why the never-sold-new-in-America 968 Clubsport is a favorite of ours.
Market Find: 1991 Porsche 911 Turbo in PTS Summer Yellow
We're particularly fond of Paint to Sample Porsches built in an era before Paint to Sample was a common occurrence. In this case, the color specification is Summer Yellow over black leather, made even better with 18-inch two-piece Speedline variants of the classic 964-era Cup 1 wheel design.
Market Find: 2015 Porsche Cayenne S e-Hybrid in Peridot Metallic
Will·
One of the best parts of Tailored Driver population is the deep research required on the more obscure finds and referrals sent to us by our dedicated readership. While newer and more common are admittedly fairly easy to decipher, the older stuff that excites us can also frustrate. Case in point is this Tailored Driver, a 2015 Porsche Cayenne S e-Hyrbid found on Facebook Marketplace.
Market Find: 2000 BMW Individual Dakar Yellow 323ti
Will·
For enthusiasts in the US, there’s often the opinion that while maybe we got a version, Europe ‘got the good one.’ While perhaps not the best representation of this sentiment, this Tailored Driver fits squarely into that category- bigger motor than was offered stateside, paired with a BMW Individual color.
Market Find: BMW Individual E92 M3 in E46-era Phoenix Yellow
Heritage or iconic brand colors are always a solid choice when it comes to a tailored specification, so an E92-generation BMW M3 Coupé in Phoenix Yellow Metallic of the E46 M3 generation just makes a lot of sense. Now pair it with a 6-speed manual transmission and Fox Red Extended Novillo leather and you have an exceptional specification.
Market Find: 1987 Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV in Giallo Fly set for Broad Arrow at The Amelia
In Italian "countach" is an expression like "goodness" or "oh my God." Sounds about right. Car-aware kids of the 1980s likely exclaimed it when they first encountered one, maybe in the pages of Road & Track or maybe in that opening scene of Cannonball Run.
Color Focus: Porsche Racing Yellow – 1S1, P3
According to Porsche Club of America’s Rennbow color index, Racing Yellow replaced Speed Yellow as the go-to yellow of choice when Porsche includes a yellow in its modern models. Rennbow also shares that, in person, Racing Yellow is a touch more green than Speed Yellow.
