Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer Debuts at Monterey

The Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer makes its public debut during Monterey Car Week 2025, marking another milestone for the California-based firm celebrated for its painstaking restorations of classic Porsche 911s. This is the first time Singer has applied its formula to the Carrera Coupe configuration, a project that arrives just as the company surpasses the significant threshold of 500 completed restorations since its founding. Founder Rob Dickinson points to the 1980s Carrera with Super Sport Equipment as the inspiration—an era when naturally aspirated performance wore the muscular curves of the Turbo—and sees this latest build as its modern interpretation.

Singer’s process begins with a donor Porsche 911 of the Type 964 generation, each already more than three decades old. The car is stripped to its steel monocoque, which is then carefully assessed and prepared. Here, Singer’s collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies comes into play, with composite and steel reinforcement applied to increase chassis strength and torsional rigidity. This engineering effort forms the foundation for the dynamic precision and refinement that follow, ensuring the restored car exceeds the performance envelope of its original form while honoring its DNA.

The interior of the Quail display car exemplifies Singer’s craftsmanship, particularly in leatherwork. It features stitched and burnished seams that require more than 400 hours to produce, a technique borrowed from high-end leather goods and executed entirely by hand. Mars Pink velvet corduroy seat inserts add a bold contrast to the Celeste Passalacqua exterior, underscoring the bespoke nature of Singer’s builds. Every aspect of the cabin can be tailored to an owner’s vision, from the materials to the seating and instrumentation, blending tradition with understated modern amenities like navigation and CarPlay connectivity.

Power comes from a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six developed alongside Cosworth. It’s the first Singer engine to incorporate variable valve timing, and combines water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders, plus an electrically driven cooling fan. This setup produces 420 horsepower, a broad torque curve, and a redline beyond 8,000 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission—optionally with a raised, exposed shift linkage—channels power to the rear wheels, while a titanium exhaust provides the unmistakable voice of a high-revving Porsche flat-six. These features draw on Singer’s learnings from both its DLS and DLS Turbo programs, distilled here for naturally aspirated purity.

The exterior blends G-model visual cues with modern carbon-fiber construction, giving the car both the presence and proportions of a wide-bodied Super Sport while reducing mass and increasing stiffness. Owners may choose between a fixed rear wing or a speed-activated version, and even opt for retractable auxiliary driving lamps. Underneath, electronically adjustable dampers with a nose lift system, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport tires deliver capability in all conditions. Five selectable drive modes adjust traction and stability systems to suit road, track, or weather.

As with all Singer restorations, the Carrera Coupe is built to each client’s specification, with the example shown at Monterey configured for touring. Singer offers even greater flexibility with the option of interchangeable bodywork, supplied in a custom flight case. Only 100 commissions will be accepted, each priced according to its specification. Owners are supported by Singer’s Global Partner Network, which provides expertise and service across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australasia—ensuring that these rare machines can be enjoyed to their fullest anywhere in the world.
