Singer “Sorcerer” Is First 911 DLS Turbo Services
Singer’s latest commission doesn’t just reinterpret the Porsche 911 — it rewrites the expectations of what an air-cooled icon can become. Named Sorcerer by its owner, this Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer is the first completed example delivered through the company’s DLS Turbo services, and it arrives as a spellbinding fusion of forced induction, high-revving theatrics and obsessive, jewel-like craftsmanship.
At its core, Sorcerer is built around the Type 964 monocoque, the same steel backbone that left Stuttgart more than three decades ago. As with every Singer restoration, the donor car is stripped to its bare chassis, assessed, reinforced and prepared for a new life. Chassis strengthening increases rigidity, creating the foundation for modern performance while preserving the analogue soul that defines the air-cooled era. Over this structure, lightweight carbon fiber bodywork is fitted, its form inspired by the wide-arched aggression of Porsche’s late-1970s 934.5 endurance racers. The result is instantly familiar, yet unmistakably more purposeful.

The headline act, of course, is the engine. Developed through Singer’s DLS Turbo program, the flat-six begins with the Type 964 architecture but evolves into something far more exotic. Displacing 3.8 liters and breathing through four valves per cylinder, the unit combines air-cooled cylinders with water-cooled cylinder heads and an electrically powered horizontal fan — a technical bridge between heritage and modern thermal demands. Twin turbochargers with variable turbine geometry deliver immense low-end torque while still allowing the engine to spin beyond 9,000 rpm. Output exceeds 700 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels only. In an era dominated by paddles and algorithms, that choice alone feels like a deliberate act of rebellion.
Singer’s approach ensures the performance envelope is matched by contemporary control. Developed with Bosch, the latest-generation ABS, traction control and electronic stability systems are paired with selectable drive modes — Road, Sport, Track, Off and Weather — allowing the driver to tailor intervention levels to both environment and ambition. Double wishbone front suspension, lightweight rear trailing arms and carbon-ceramic brakes further modernize the driving experience, while Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrap 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged magnesium center-lock wheels finished in a subtle Champagne hue.

Visually, Sorcerer lives up to its name. The body is finished in Fantasia Blue, applied in a graduated effect that deepens toward the rear, amplifying the car’s muscular stance. The owner selected a track-focused configuration, with a deep front spoiler and a prominent raised rear wing that signals this car’s dynamic intent before it turns a wheel. Satin carbon fiber defines the lower exterior surfaces, contrasted by black anodized trim. It is a study in restraint and drama, a balance Singer has made its signature.
Inside, the alchemy continues. Seats trimmed in Pebble Grey leather feature Pearl Grey Alcantara centers and Champagne piping, tying into the Champagne-finished brightwork that frames the cabin. Satin carbon fiber defines the lower interior environment, while a rear cross-brace behind the seats hints at the car’s structural and performance focus. Ahead of the driver, the familiar five-dial 911 layout is reimagined with hand-built, floating gauges encircled by Champagne bezels, bringing the standards of fine watchmaking into an unmistakably mechanical cockpit. Technology is present, but discreet — navigation and phone connectivity integrated without disturbing the analog purity.

Sorcerer represents more than a single, beautifully specified 911. It marks the first customer car completed through DLS Turbo services and signals Singer’s most ambitious exploration yet of turbocharging within the air-cooled 911 lineage. By blending towering boost with a 9,000 rpm redline, manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, Singer has created a machine that promises engagement at any speed — just as thrilling at 40 mph as it is at 140. For Tailored Driver readers, it stands as a reminder that true automotive magic isn’t about chasing numbers alone. Sometimes, it’s about knowing exactly which ingredients to mix — and having the courage to turn the boost all the way up.
