“ZEAL01” is #18 of Totem Automobili’s GT Electric Series

There’s a growing segment of the collector market that isn’t chasing nostalgia alone, but reinterpretation. That’s where Totem Automobili has carved out its space remastering vintage Alfas, and its latest creation—the Zeal01—definitely proudly represents their level of craftsmanship.

Unveiled as the 18th build in Totem’s GT program, the Zeal01 is a one-off electric grand tourer commissioned by a California-based client. Like every Totem, it begins with familiar DNA—rooted in the form of the classic Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA—but quickly diverges into something far more contemporary. This isn’t restoration. It’s reengineering, filtered through Italian craftsmanship and shaped entirely around individual taste.

Color with a Point of View

At first glance, the Zeal01 is defined by its paint. Developed specifically for this car, the bespoke “Azzurro Pervinca” variation is a triple-layer metallic finish designed to mimic the shifting tones of the California coastline. It’s not just a color choice—it’s a narrative decision, tying the car to its owner’s environment in a way that feels more architectural than automotive.

That sense of cohesion continues through the details. Satin gold accents link exterior and interior, while Totem’s now-signature diamond weave carbon fiber appears throughout in a matte finish. It’s a visual language that’s becoming recognizable across the brand, but here it feels particularly resolved—less experimental, more intentional.

Craft and Configuration

Inside is where Zeal01 separates itself from earlier builds. For the first time on a GT Electric, Totem introduces a two-tone cabin, pairing medium-blue and cream Nappa leather with a bespoke pied-de-poule fabric developed alongside a Florentine artisan workshop. The result is less “custom interior” and more tailored environment—something closer to couture than aftermarket.

The level of execution reinforces that idea. Carbon fiber seats developed with Sabelt gain leather-trimmed bolsters, CNC-machined elements are integrated rather than added, and even the headliner carries custom stitching. Blue Brembo calipers with gold lettering echo the exterior palette, completing a loop that feels carefully considered rather than stylistically forced.

Electric Platform that’s Still Evolving

Underneath, Zeal01 continues to build on Totem’s proprietary electric architecture. While outright performance figures aren’t the headline here, the focus has clearly shifted toward refinement. A new electronically controlled suspension system, developed with ORAM, allows independent adjustment of front and rear damping—effectively giving the driver a broader range between comfort and performance settings.

It’s a subtle but important shift. Earlier electric restomods often leaned heavily on power output as proof of concept. Zeal01 suggests Totem is now more interested in how the car feels in real-world use—how it rides, how it responds, how it integrates into a broader driving experience.

Different Kind of Collectible

Seen on the streets of Treviso, where Totem is based, Zeal01 carries an added layer of symbolism. It’s a car that blends regional craftsmanship with global influence, built in Italy but shaped by California. That duality feels increasingly relevant as the collector market evolves.

For Tailored Driver readers, Zeal01 represents a shift in what defines a desirable car. It’s not just rarity—though being a one-off ensures that. It’s not just design or performance in isolation. It’s the synthesis of those elements into something personal, something intentional.

In that sense, Zeal01 isn’t just another electric restomod. It’s a case study in where the high-end automotive space is heading: smaller volumes, deeper customization, and a growing emphasis on craftsmanship as a defining metric of value.
