There are plenty of ways to make a modern Porsche 911 stand out, though few work quite as effectively as reaching into the company’s historic color catalog.
This 2024 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS is finished in Paint to Sample Olympic Blue, now officially identified by Porsche as 914Olympblue. The non-metallic pastel blue traces its roots to the early 1970s, when it was offered on the Porsche 914 for the 1973 and 1974 model years. The color was originally developed for the Volkswagen Beetle before also appearing on the Volkswagen-built 914. Its modern Porsche color code is Z16, while L51P is associated with the original shade.
Olympic Blue occupies familiar territory alongside colors such as Gulf Blue, though it has a richer and more saturated appearance. On the wider and more sculpted body of a 992-generation 911, the historic color takes on a very different character than it did on the compact and angular 914.
