Range Rover Creates 1 of 1 Classic to Match New SV Ultra for Monterey Auction

Range Rover is taking the concept of bespoke luxury across generations with a unique matched pair that will debut during Monterey Car Week before crossing the block at RM Sotheby’s. The collection brings together the first U.S.-specification Range Rover SV Ultra and a meticulously restored 1993 Range Rover Classic created specifically to mirror its modern counterpart.

Rather than simply restoring a vintage SUV, Range Rover Classic has treated the 1993 model as an extension of the new flagship. Finished in the same Titan Silver paint developed for the SV Ultra, the Classic features subtle exterior revisions inspired by the latest model, including Satin Platinum Atlas-finished three-spoke wheels, minimalist body detailing and bespoke badging identifying it as the first commissioned “matched pair” created through the company’s Classic division.

Inside, the connection between old and new becomes even more apparent. The cabin marks the first use of Ultrafabrics upholstery in a Range Rover Classic, trimmed in the same Orchid White and Cinder Grey two-tone color scheme introduced on the SV Ultra. Laser-etched seat patterns, mosaic perforation, brushed aluminum trim and bespoke interior details reinterpret the contemporary flagship’s design language while respecting the character of the original Range Rover.

The restoration itself represents more than 2,000 hours of work by the specialists at Range Rover Classic Works in Coventry. Starting with a U.S.-market 1993 County Edition powered by the original 3.9-liter V8 and four-speed automatic transmission, engineers completely rebuilt the drivetrain, suspension, steering and braking systems while preserving the vehicle’s factory character. The goal was not modernization, but refinement—retaining the authenticity collectors expect while elevating reliability and craftsmanship to contemporary standards.

The project also serves as a showcase for the expanding capabilities of Range Rover’s bespoke and Classic personalization programs. Buyers can commission everything from one-off paint colors and custom embroidery to entirely unique interior specifications, with the Classic division now offering similarly individualized restorations of heritage models.

The one-of-one pair will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week, appearing at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction preview from August 12-14 before being offered as a single lot during the live sale on August 14. By presenting a 1993 Classic alongside today’s most luxurious Range Rover, the company offers collectors an unusual opportunity to acquire two generations of the marque linked not only by design, but by a shared vision of bespoke craftsmanship.
