Before Porsche became more widely known for its Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur and Paint-to-Sample services, there was the factory’s legendary Sonderwunsch (“Special Wishes”) department. During the 1980s, far fewer customers were willing—or able—to commission truly individualized 911s, making surviving examples among the most intriguing collector cars of the era.

This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Coupe represents a relatively affordable example of one of those rare factory-built Sonderwunsch creations. Delivered new in Germany (C00 specification), it was completed at the very beginning of Carrera 3.2 production and finished in the highly unusual Rolls-Royce Exeter Blue. According to its documentation, the color may make this the only 911 ever delivered from the factory in this specification.
The bespoke theme continues throughout the cabin. Dark blue full leather is paired with fully electric Recaro comfort seats, a matching factory sport steering wheel, wood veneer dashboard trim, leather-covered fuse box, optional under-dash storage pockets, and numerous other Sonderwunsch details that distinguish the car from a standard Carrera of that era.

Mechanically, the car retains its matching-numbers 3.2-liter flat-six producing 231 horsepower, the engine that marked a significant evolution of the classic G-body 911. Documentation indicates a comprehensive engine rebuild was completed several years ago, while a more recent clutch replacement helps ensure the car remains ready to be enjoyed. The seller notes the engine is dry and the car drives exceptionally well.
Just as impressive is the documentation. The Carrera has had only three registered owners since new, spending its first 15 years in Germany before moving to France in 1999, where it remained for more than two decades before arriving in Belgium in 2025. It is accompanied by extensive service records, invoices, two maintenance booklets, a Porsche Certificate, the original owner’s manuals and pouch, original key, factory tool roll, jack, space-saver spare, and even the corresponding Sonderwunsch catalog.

With just under 190,000 kilometers (approximately 118,000 miles), this isn’t a delivery-mile museum piece—and that’s arguably part of its appeal. Paint meter readings indicate largely original factory paint, with only the front hood and engine lid having been refinished. The body reportedly shows no accident damage or filler, while original VIN decals, identification plates, and factory undercoating remain intact.
Factory equipment includes air conditioning, heated windshield, tinted glass, electrically adjustable heated passenger mirror, alarm system, rear seat belts, 15-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and the desirable model-delete rear decklid.

For collectors, it’s worth noting that Sonderwunsch-built Carreras from this period surface only occasionally, while examples like this one carrying such an individualized factory specification are rarer still. In many ways, this 911 foreshadows today’s more extravagant Sonderwunsch commissions, offering a fascinating snapshot of how far Porsche was willing to go for its most discerning customers even more than four decades ago.
