Range Rover is marking the opening of its Bespoke Commissioning Suite in Sydney with the SV Bespoke Pioneer 1972, a one-off build inspired by the first Range Rover to arrive in Australia. Displayed alongside its historic counterpart at the new Mascot facility, the commission pairs a custom white metallic finish with a Caraway and Ebony cabin and references to Australia’s Snowy Mountains.

An Australian Connection
According to Range Rover, the original Davos White demonstration vehicle, serial number 35600022A, arrived in Australia in early 1970 ahead of the model’s commercial launch there in 1972. Preserved with its original patina, it provided the starting point for the modern commission. The Pioneer’s name references that commercial launch, while its detailing draws on Mount Kosciuszko and the alpine landscape associated with the model’s Australian introduction.

White Paint, Caraway Leather
The Pioneer 1972 wears a custom Bespoke White Gloss finish with fine metallic flakes intended to recall snow in sunlight. Gloss Black mirror caps and 23-inch Oblivion Diamond Turned wheels with Gloss Dark Grey contrast detailing give the exterior some definition without moving far from the original vehicle’s restrained color scheme.
Inside, Caraway and Ebony leather are paired with Natural Black Birch veneer and Satin Black ceramic controls. Seat embroidery and scatter cushions use Perlino and Caraway stitching in a pattern inspired by Kosciuszko’s snow-covered peaks. Illuminated treadplates carry “Pioneer 1972 One of One” lettering. Power comes from the SV’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8, rated at 452 kW, or approximately 606 hp.

A New Place To Commission
The Sydney suite offers Bespoke commissioning for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models in Autobiography and SV specification. Clients work with Range Rover design experts to select custom paint, leather, veneers, embroidery, contrast stitching, precious metal accents and personalized insignia. The associated experience includes a two-night stay at Capella Sydney, access to the hotel’s Culturists to help tailor the visit and return Range Rover transfers for the commissioning appointment. Private consultations can be arranged through Australian Range Rover retailers.
